Many people like the feeling of cool breezes, especially during a warm season. However, when strong winds come, things around us may get tossed around and moved out of place. The presence of a strong wind can be a little unsettling. No longer gentle and refreshing, a strong wind can halt our plans. But wind has the capacity to do more damage than change our schedule for the day. Storms can bring forth a surge of winds so devastating that it destroys anything in its pathway. During those times, people are advised to remain indoors to protect themselves from the detriment of raging forces which can bring forth extreme harm. However, when the winds of life blow, our safety is not in a physical building. Our protection is found in Jesus.
We cannot be the leaves that fall to the ground when the wind blows. We cannot be so easily detached from the branch that grants us life. There is no force so strong that we should get tossed around and carried away from God. The storms of life may shake us, but we must remain rooted in God. Like palms and other trees, we must be strongly rooted and seen standing after the storm. Winds may cause us to bend some. We may even shake some. And its ok, we have to flex with the wind. But, we must be resilient enough to withstand the pressure. When we are rooted in the word of God and maintain connection with Christ, the world we see that we’ll still be here when the winds cease. When first responders check the aftermath for carcasses, they will have to report, “he [or she] was a little shaken yet still stands”. Let that be your testimony: “Shaken Yet Standing!”
